Haley's Launchpad is a learning app built for kids and run entirely by their grown-ups. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, why, and how a parent stays in control of it. We designed the app so that children never create their own accounts — a parent sets everything up and owns all of it.

1 Who runs Haley's Launchpad

Haley's Launchpad is a small, family-made educational project — not a large company. It was built by a grandfather ("Paw Paw") for his granddaughter and is now shared with other families. You can reach the person responsible any time at edwardsalfred2.0@gmail.com or through the contact page.

2 What we collect

From the parent (account holder)

Name — the first and last name you enter when you sign up.
Email address — used to sign in, confirm your account, and reset your password.
Password — never stored in readable form; it is handled and hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase).

About each child ("cadet") you add

A display name and a chosen avatar emoji — this can be a first name, nickname, or anything you like. You are not required to use a real or full name.
A 4-digit PIN that lets your child unlock their own profile. The PIN is hashed on your device before it is ever sent to us — we never see or store the actual digits.
An optional school name, if you choose to enter one.
Learning progress — lesson and module completion, quiz scores and attempt history, stars, XP points, daily streaks, badges earned, and any short writing responses your child submits inside the app.

If you use the contact form

The name, email, and message you type, so we can read and reply to you.

Basic technical data

The app is hosted on Vercel and its data on Supabase. Like almost all websites, those providers may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service running and secure. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell data.

3 Children's privacy & COPPA

Haley's Launchpad is intended to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Children do not register, do not provide an email, and cannot create their own account. A child simply unlocks a profile the parent already created, using a PIN.

We collect only the limited information described above, and only what's needed to run the learning experience and show a parent their child's progress. We do not ask children for personal contact details, we do not show them ads, and we do not knowingly collect more from a child than is necessary for the app to work. A parent can review, edit, or delete their child's information at any time (see Your choices). If you believe a child provided information without a parent's involvement, email us and we will delete it.

4 How we use information

To create and secure your parent account and let your child sign in with a PIN.
To save and display learning progress, scores, streaks, and badges.
To let you, the parent, review your child's activity and writing.
To send you essential account emails (for example, confirming your email or a password reset).
To notify the app's creator that a new family signed up or that a contact message came in.
To respond to you when you contact us.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

We keep the list of third parties deliberately short. They act as service providers on our behalf:

Supabase — stores the app's database and handles sign-in and passwords.
Vercel — hosts the website and serves the app.
Resend — sends the small number of notification and account emails described above.

We share information with these providers only so the app can function. We may also disclose information if required by law. We never sell your or your child's personal information.

6 How we protect data

Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider — we never see them.
Child PINs are hashed on your device before being sent, so we never store the real PIN.
Database access rules ("row-level security") ensure a parent can only ever see and manage their own account and children — never another family's.
Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the amount of data we hold small and well-guarded.

7 Your choices and control

As the parent, you are always in control. You can:

Review your child's profile and progress at any time inside the app.
Edit a child's name, avatar, PIN, or school.
Delete a child profile — which removes that child's associated progress, quizzes, badges, and writing.
Delete your entire account yourself, right in the app. Open the Parent Dashboard (the "Grown-Ups" area), and under "Delete account" you can permanently remove your account and every cadet on it — all profiles, progress, quiz history, badges, and saved writing — in one step. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you'd rather we handle it, or run into any trouble, email edwardsalfred2.0@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.

Deleting your account erases your family's data from our database. We keep information only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app.

8 Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes that affect how we handle your family's data, we'll make a reasonable effort to let account holders know.
